International Community Shared Opportunities for Cluster Partners During KICRF 2024

20.02.2024

On February 7-8, the first Kyiv International Cyber Resilience Forum 2024: “Resilience at the Cyber War” (KICRF 2024) took place. It was the first intergovernmental industry event in Ukraine, organized by the National Cyber Security Coordination Center (NCSCC) at the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC) and CRDF Global with the support of the U.S. Department of State.

The forum became a platform for coordination of the efforts of stakeholders in the sector, who shared their own developments, plans and analytics, in particular during a meeting of the National Cybersecurity Cluster.

The first meeting of the Cluster in 2024 was devoted to a review of the achievements and challenges faced by government and international partners. Representatives of the donor community (CRDF Global, IFES, Deloitte, USAID, DAI, EU4Digital) shared their best practices and emphasized opportunities for platform members. The meeting of the initiative brought together 100 participants from 62 organizations.

In total, the two-day KICRF 2024 forum was attended by over 1000 representatives of the global cyber community.

KICRF 2024 included 10 panel discussions and thematic sessions centered around topical cybersecurity issues.

The key topics included:

  • the role of cybersecurity in modern wars;
  • Ukraine’s experience in cyber warfare;
  • cyber warfare and international law;
  • cyber diplomacy;
  • strengthening the resilience of the national cybersecurity system through education;
  • security of messengers;
  • the role of cyber threat intelligence;
  • regional cybersecurity, and others.

The event was also special for technical cyber specialists, who fiercely competed for the championship in the CTF tournament, performing tasks that simulated real attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure.

The forum marked the beginning of a new stage of interaction between key cyber stakeholders, engaging international partners for the first time in considering the issue of cyber warfare in Ukraine.
