CRDF Global in Ukraine and the National Cyber Security Coordination Center (NCSCC) under the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC) continue fostering partnerships in the field of cybersecurity, the 27th meeting of the coordination platform was held for the first time in collaboration with the National Academy of the Security Service of Ukraine.

During the meeting, Mykhailo Verych, Regional Director of CRDF Global in Ukraine, and Andriy Cherniak, Rector of the National Academy of the Security Service of Ukraine, signed a Memorandum of Cooperation. This document outlines plans for collaboration between CRDF Global in Ukraine and the Academy in various areas:
– including information and cybersecurity,
– countering the spread of disinformation,
– addressing radiological, chemical, biological, and nuclear threats.

“Supporting the scientific community was one of CRDF Global’s first activities in Ukraine. It is the development of scientific potential that forms the basis for further strengthening of the security sector, in particular through new effective solutions and high-quality training. Holding the National Cybersecurity Cluster on the basis of the SSU Academy is the first joint event under the Memorandum. Together today we are launching a new vector of cooperation to achieve common goals,” said Mykhailo Verych, Regional Director of CRDF Global in Ukraine.

The event participants focused on the “Definition and Integration of Key Cybersecurity Concepts in the Regulatory Field of Ukraine and the World.” Democracies around the globe are subject to cyber attacks and interference in their internal processes. This necessitates a distinct and well-defined cyber defense strategy to prevent and counteract cybercrimes.

“We need to establish a unified terminology for key cybersecurity concepts. russian hackers openly demonstrate their attacks on the critical infrastructure of foreign states and interfere in domestic political processes. Unfortunately, the world remains silent. Therefore, we must now initiate processes to develop a specific ideology regarding cyber defense during times of war,” said Serhii Demediuk, opening the event.

In addition to the main topic of the meeting, the participants revealed the following aspects:
• War crimes in cyberspace: modern legal approaches and gaps
• Mechanisms of international deterrence and response to military actions in cyberspace
